Recently, while shooting for Chandni Chowk to China, she injured herself very badly, yet continued to shoot for the film without complaint.It was only when director Nikhil Advani saw her limp and realised that she was injured, did she express her pain.A unit member says, "Deepika injured her ankle twice while rehearsing and was in extreme pain.Then during the actual shoot, she injured herself again in the same place and was in terrible pain.Doctors were called in and her injury turned out to be serious.She will now have to always be extra protective about her ankle as any more injury can be do serious damage to it."
